REL Announcements:
  • Community service opportunity - Juniors and Seniors interested in helping with West Riverside Elementary's Fall Festival this Friday, should email their counselor. Volunteer training is Friday at 8:00-8:30; Festival is 4:00-7:30 p.m. Assisting with this event counts as community service hours!
  • National Honor Society Officer positions - Students interested in running for an NHS Officer position should submit an application to Mrs. Sambol-Tosco by Nov. 4.
  • Boys Basketball practice - starts today at 3:00. See Coach Jenkins for more information. 
  • Spirit Week - Congratulations to the REL Football Team for earning the title of District Champs! REL will celebrate this accomplishment with various events next week, including theme days and a Homecoming Mixer. Be sure to adhere to dress code policy when creating your costume(s) for the following theme days: 
    • Monday - Super Hero Day 
    • Tuesday - Twin Day
    • Wednesday - I Woke Up Like This (pajamas day)
    • Thursday - Celebrity Day

  • ASVAB testing will be offered at REL Nov. 8th from 8:00-11:00 a.m. Contact your school counselor if you are interested in taking this interest inventory.

REL Announcements:
  • FREE ACT and SAT Test Prep session at UNF Nov. 5th from 8:00-12:00 p.m. Students must sign up with Ms. Crowden-Richardson by Nov. 2 to register for this event. 
  • REL Presidential Election to be held at REL! REL students are invited to participate in a mock election Oct. 28th. Students who take classes at FSCJ can vote in the REL Media Center from 7:45-8:30 a.m.  
  • Interested in politics? Volunteers (students) who are interested in learning more about how elections and pollling places are run should see/email Dr. Keefe about volunteering to help with the REL Presidential Election.
  • Thank you to all students, parents, and program representatives who attended the Fall Information Night at REL last night! We hope you picked up a lot of useful information. The slideshow presentations are located on the School Counseling weebly, blogspot, and Facebook pages.

  • Financial Aid Information – ALL SENIORS should apply for Federal, State, and institution-level financial aid! This money can be used for college or vocational training programs. Some programs, such as Florida Bright Futures, will allow a student to “save” the funds until they complete military programs.

·         Scholarship: The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship awards up to $40,000 per year to community college sophomores and recent graduates to complete their bachelor's degree, in addition to opportunities for internships, study abroad, and graduate school funding. ·         Scholarship: The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program awards up to $40,000 per year to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need. Deadline: Nov. 30.
·         Scholarship: The LEDA Scholars Program seeks high-achieving, low-income high school juniors from around the country. Deadline: Dec. 12.
