Junior Class Canned Food Drive

Spirit Bus to Football Game at Englewod - Oct. 3

Attention Students! There will be a Spirit Bus for students to travel to the Lee vs. Englewood Football Game on Oct. 3rd! Tickets are $12 ($5 for the bus, $7 for the game). Bus leaves REL at 5:00 p.m. See Mrs. Sams for more information.

General Information - 
  • Senior Class Suggestion Box - Seniors are asked to drop off suggestions for the Class of 2015 Song, Motto, & Flower. The suggestion box is located in the REL Main Office
  • October Canned Food Drive sponsored by the Junior Class. Bring non-perishable food items to rm 847 after school any day of the week. Evening Drop-Off Day - Oct. 9th - bring 4+ items to the volLEEball game & get in to the game for free. Community Drop Off Day - Oct. 11. Student who brings the most items in will win a ticket to Prom!
  • Senior Packages will be on sale every Monday and Friday in October after school in rm. 892. The cost is $375. Cash, checks, and money orders only. No partial payments will be accepted. See Mrs. Morrison for more information.

CARE Program at Florida State University


The CARE Summer Bridge Program (SBP) provides a comprehensive program of orientation and academic support designed to ease the transition from high school to college while building a strong academic foundation.  Applicants selected to participate in CARE will be first-generation college students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds who have demonstrated a strong desire to succeed.

Minimum Requirements and Eligibility:

  • Academic Requirements
    • 3.0+ GPA (weighted),
    • 1330+ SAT, and/or
    • 19+ ACT (applicants taking the ACT must also submit the ACT Writing Test)
  • Financial Eligibility Guidelines
    • Must be socioeconomically disadvantaged (as determined by financial documentation)
    • Students must apply for financial aid by completing the 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which can be found at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. All students admitted to SBP must be eligible for the Pell Grant during summer and fall/spring terms. The 2014-2015 FAFSA and supporting financial documentation ARE REQUIRED and must be submitted when applying to the CARE Summer Bridge Program.
  • Additional Eligibility Requirements
    • Must be a first-generation college student at time of enrollment (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree)
    • Must be a Florida resident
    • All CARE applicants must submit an official high school transcript AND complete the SSAR (Self-reported Student Academic Record). 

SATISFYING THESE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS DOES NOT GUARANTEE ADMISSION. Florida State University and the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE) are committed to providing access to higher education for educationally and economically disadvantaged students.  The CARE Admissions Committee only reviews applications that are complete, containing all required attachments. Decisions by the CARE Committee are based on a variety of factors including academic performance, test scores, student essays, educational history, socioeconomic background, and family educational level.

J. Ollie Edmunds Distinguished Scholarship Program - Stetson University - Due Jan. 16



The J. Ollie Edmunds Distinguished Scholarship Program at Stetson University seeks students who demonstrate a balance of the following qualities:
  • Superior intellect and academic achievement, as measured by academic record and standardized testing
    • GPA of 3.5 or above
    • Combined SAT score of at least 1350 (critical reading and math) or an
    • ACT composite score of at least 30
  • Outstanding leadership potential as measured by leadership roles in high school or the community. This may include leadership roles in academic, athletic, religious, scientific, military, social, civic, or service organizations in high school or the community.  Stetson seeks students with proven leadership potential who may be future Stetson student-body presidents, as well as members of Omicron Delta Kappa, Mortar Board, and Phi Beta Kappa.
  • Discipline and physical wellness gained by participation in athletics or fitness activities. Although some applicants have actively participated in varsity sports, this is not required.  Applicants who participate in aerobics, dance, or other fitness programs that create physical wellness meet this characteristic.
  • Character, integrity and self-motivation
  • Outstanding personality and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Active participation in campus and community activities and personal achievement in co-curricular activities.

Stetson seeks creative and imaginative students: creativity and imagination as demonstrated by participation in fine arts, music, acting, theatre, dance, writing, poetry, debate or scientific investigation.

This scholarship covers full tuition, annual fees, required course texts and materials, and on-campus room and board for four years for selected students.

George W. Jenkins Scholarship - University of Miami - Due Dec. 1


The George W. Jenkins Scholarship is funded through Publix Super Markets Charities.  This four year scholarship is awarded to students based on academic merit, financial need, and an essay that demonstrates a history of overcoming significant adversity.  The scholarship is valued at more than $62,000 for the 2015-2016 academic year. Scholarship Criteria:
  • Residency:  Open only to U.S. citizens who are residents of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee, graduating from a high school within their homes state, and enrolling full time at the University of Miami.
  • Academics: Minimum GPA of 3.75 n a 4.0 scale and a well-rounded college preparatory curriculum.
  • Personal History: Participation in school or community activities, a strong work ethic, and a history of overcoming significant adversity.
  • Financial Need: High financial need, as determined through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE.
