End-of-the-school-year & Summer Notes

Attention REL Students! Here are a few things for your End-of-School-Year and Summer To-Do Lists:
  • Check your Mailing Address in FOCUS. Many important items are mailed home over the summer. Please make sure your address is correct!
  • Community Service – earn community service hours for scholarships this summer (requirements range from 25-100 hours). A good place to find community service projects is https://www.volunteermatch.org/ Service guidelines and forms can be found here: http://rel411.blogspot.com/
  • If you are enrolled in FSCJ classes, monitor your FSCJ:
    • email account – Textbook information will be sent to you via FSCJ email this summer.
    • schedule – If you notice a class changes or disappears, please notify your school counselor via email ASAP.
  • FLVS courses – students who need to improve their GPA or need to retake a course (earned a D or F during the school year) should sign up for FLVS – Flex-time classes: www.FLVS.net
  • Sign up for scholarships – go to https://www.raise.me/ and build a profile today! Add activities, classes, and grades as you go through summer and senior year. This can turn into a nice bundle of money for college, all just for tracking what you are already doing!
  • PERT Summer Administration – June 20 or June 21. Students may pick the day that works best for them, but can only take the test one one time in June. Students should report to the Media Center by 7:30 a.m. of the day they would like to test.
  • Practice/prep for ACT and SAT – Plan on taking the ACT and the SAT Spring semester Junior year and Fall semester senior year. Check out www.ACTstudent.org and www.collegeboard.org for more information.
  • Start looking at college websites – Plan on applying to at least five colleges your senior year. Take virtual tours of schools through the internet this summer so you know what schools will be looking for on your high school transcript (classes, grades, test scores, community service, etc.)
  • Read at least one book for fun, go outside, do something fun, do one thing that has nothing to do with school – Everyone needs a break from school. Make sure you do something fun this summer that helps you recharge your batteries J
