Students - If you did not see the Newsletter via email, send your FSCJ email address to Dr. Keefe ASAP. Many 9th & 10th grade students have not submitted this information yet. This means you are missing important announcements.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship - up to $40,000

 Ronald Reagan Foundation

"Honoring the legacy and character of our nation’s 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education.
Each year, the Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate study only, and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. In addition, scholars are invited to participate in a special awards program.

To be eligible for this award, the applicant must:
  • demonstrate attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship;
  • demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent);
  • demonstrate financial need; 
  • be a citizen of the United States of America;
  • be a high school senior & graduating in winter 2013 or spring 2014. 
  • plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2014-2015 academic year"

2013 Gator Bowl Award of Excellence Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:       

3.0+ GPA (on an unweighted 4.0 scale) from an accredited high school in Florida’s First Coast Area.
Participate in a junior varsity or varsity sport or its equivalent (dance, gymnastics, tae-kwon-do)
Participate in Extra-Curricular activities through church, school or the community
Exhibit exemplary behavior, thereby being a good role model for peers
Pledge to remain drug-free, alcohol-free and tobacco free

The application deadline for this scholarship cycle must be postmarked by Friday, November 15, 2013.  Scholarship recipients will be selected by December 15th. Awards will be presented at the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl Coaches Luncheon presented by CSX on Tuesday, December 31, 2013.

 

National Security Agency’s Stokes Educational Scholarship Program



With this scholarship you get: Paid Tuition up to $30,000 per Year, Year-round salary, Rewarding Work Experience, and Guaranteed Employment.

With the Stokes Program, you will attend college full-time (4 classes per semester), then work during the summer of NSA’s (National Security Agency) main headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland, for a minimum of 12 weeks in areas that are related to your course of study.  You’ll acquire real-world experience and receive a salary year-round. 

Qualifications for High School Seniors:

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen
  • You must be eligible to be granted a security clearance
  • You must be a high school senior at the time of application
  •  You must achieve a minimum SAT score of 1600 (1100 Critical Reading and Math) or ACT of 25.
  • You must be planning to major in computer science or computer/electrical engineering.
  • A 3.0 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale is preferred. (unweighted GPA)

Friday Focus: College Applications!

Working on your college applications? Wondering what you should be doing as far as college goes?
Here is what seniors should be doing during the month of November according to College Board:

  • Submit applications due in November by the college deadline.
  • Follow up with references to make sure they have written and sent letters of recommendation.
  • File required financial aid forms (check the college's website).
  • Review requirements & deadlines for financial aid applications. Get all your documentation ready to send when requested.

FAMU Scholarship for Early College Students!




This is a two-year scholarship for incoming freshman who earned a high school diploma and the AA/AS degree from a Florida State/Community College at the same time.
