Arts for Life Scholarship



This is a scholarship for Florida high school seniors in visual art, music, dance, drama or creative writing. The deadline to apply is February 2nd.

The Arts for Life! Scholarship Program annually awards $2,000 scholarships to 25 graduating high school seniors in Florida who demonstrate excellence in visual art, music, dance, drama or creative writing.

Application Deadline:
February 2, 2015

Eligibility:
Students who are graduating from a public, private or virtual school or a home education program in Florida in the Spring of 2015.

Application Process:
Students must submit a completed application, a brief essay explaining "How the arts have positively influenced my life" and a portfolio of work in visual art, music, dance, drama or creative writing. Students can apply online at http://artsforlifeaward.org/apply/.
 
College Matching Program:
In addition to the program's $2,000 cash award, winners will be automatically eligible to receive a matching in-kind scholarship worth a minimum of $1,000 if they attend one of the participating Florida institutions for higher education: Broward College, College of Central Florida, Flagler College, Florida College, Florida Atlantic University, Florida Institute of Technology, Jacksonville University, Nova Southeastern University, Stetson University and University of Florida.

Asylees as Authors Scholarship Program



Free Scholarship Contest for Best Short Story Begins

Asylees as Authors is pleased to announce that the contest for scholarships for 2014-15 is now open to applicants. First place for the best fiction short story is $5,000.  Second place is $1,000. There is no fee to enter, but the applicant must be an asylee, refugee, or former asylee or refugee (not a US citizen). Asylees as Authors, which believes in the value of higher education and literature, is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to asylees and refugees. The fiction story must be 1500 words or fewer. The deadline is May 15, 2015, and the winner will be announced before June 20, which is World Refugee Day.
