Metrotown Institute Application

OneJax is now recruiting teens for MetrotownInstitute, our annual teen diversity leadership program. Celebrating its 24th year, MetrotownInstitute will assemble high school students to explore living together successfully in an increasingly diverse and interdependent world and we are seeking your support. Please refer teens entering 10, 11, or 12 grades to participate in this four-day, experiential diversity program that promotes respect and understanding across the differences of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic status and ability. This year’s program will be held June 22 – 25, 2015 at Riverside Presbyterian Church.

During the four days of the MetrotownInstitutethe youth engage in dialogue, art activities, games and team building exercises, among other things, around the topics of bias, bigotry, prejudice, discrimination and racism.  Participants share ideas and feelings, discover their own unique talents, experience a variety of perspectives on diversity issues, multicultural communications, religious traditions, gender roles and self-esteem. MetrotownInstitute is a powerful experience that has been proven to impact all who participate and allowing youth to explore the benefits of how they can become part of a change that will improve our community. Students also earn 37 hours of community service.

Students are considered on a first come, first serve basis. Scholarships are available. Applications should be returned as soon as possible for review.
