Over 100 courses are offered through the DCPS Parent Academy this spring
semester. These courses are an excellent resource to support parents, cousins, aunts,
uncles, church members - basically all of the adults who try to help students. Parent Academy courses are offered free of charge,
and in three strands: Student Achievement, Parenting & Advocacy, and
Personal & Individual Growth.
Courses cover a multitude of topics, including Co-Parenting, Effective
Discipline, and Resolving Conflict (among other topics). In addition to traditional course-offerings,
there's the "Circle of Parents," which is a support group for parents that meets monthly to discuss parental concerns. Parent Academy courses
